Oakwood Students Paint Pumpkins to Raise Money for Juvenile Diabetes

Students at Oakwood School participated in the 25th Annual Leta Kids’ Pumpkin Express at the Laurelton Fire House in Brick.  Art students painted cartoon characters, heroes, villains, classic movie monsters and animals to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund.  Every pumpkin painted by an Oakwood student sold at the event last Sunday.  By noon, the effort raised over $1000 in pumpkin sales alone. Students shared that they liked using their creative skills to bring awareness to an important topic and a nonprofit that helps many children coping with diabetes. All students who participated received a special certificate specifying the hours they devoted to the effort.
