Oakwood’s SLE Class Gives Back

Oakwood School’s Structured Learning Experience class volunteered to take part in the Ronald McDonald House Caring Cooks Program.  They planned their meal, shopped for supplies, and prepared the delicious homemade macaroni and cheese at the Ronald McDonald House one afternoon.  The students were eager to help and gained valuable experience.  Volunteering has many benefits.  According to helpguide.org1, here are some of those benefits:

Benefits of volunteering: 4 ways to feel healthier and happier

  1. Volunteering connects you to others
  2. Volunteering is good for your mind and body
  3. Volunteering can advance your career
  4. Volunteering brings fun and fulfillment to your life

This experience was so rewarding, the SLE class has plans to cook again and also help with the gardening at the Ronald McDonald House in the spring.
